Inspecting Fireplaces - What we look for

• Water stains: on ceiling above the fireplace, on front of fireplace facia, inside smoke chamber or firebox
• Rust: on fireplace facia, on smoke chamber walls, on damper
• Mortar leech (white fuzz): on firebox walls, on smoke chamber walls
• Gaps: between hearth edge & fireplace floor, between brick joints in firebox, when damper is closed
• Cracks: in hearth tiles, in firebox walls, on fireplace floor
• Damper: tight or loose closure? smooth or sticky action? lever or pull-chain in good condition? does brick firebox have a loose or solid damper lever pin?

A graded and detailed work report is included with all inspections and cleans.
